The Purple Park

We refer to our neighborhood parks by color, mostly. We have the Purple Park (our favorite), the Green Park (which isn't the greatest for Rubin and Emmett, as it has a chain bridge that they are both too little to navigate), and the "Dark" Park (coined not for it's color but it's covered slide, which is dark inside.)

We've been squeezing in as many trips to our parks as we can while the weather holds out. Mid-week, we spent about an hour playing at our fave.

Swinging.
(Despite how it looks, Rubin was secured quite safely in his swing. I think.
Let's just say he didn't fall out.)

Balancing.

Jumping.

Climbing.

Just hanging out.

As an added bonus, "the guys" were there with their "big diggin' ma-cheens" (Emmett-speak.) Not sure what they were working on, but my boys could have watched forever.

Theo hopes they were digging for a pool. (Me too, buddy. Me too.)

I am NOT looking forward to the bitter cold and feeling all cooped up this winter... We will miss you, Purple Park.

Looks like so much fun! Were those pics taken with the new lens? I'm not looking forward to being cooped up either. We've been spoiled with this warmer weather lately. X would have LOVED to watch the diggers with your boys.

Great photos! I'm guessing these were all 50 mm awesomeness :)

I love the photo of Rubin following his big brother on the climb. How fun that he has two big bros to emulate - although scary for mama, I'm SURE.

I'm lovin' the short depth of field here!!!

And seeing little R's hand peeking over the side of the stroller... too cute!

Knowing you, you will be out there in the cold with those boys. you're such a trooper about the weather and getting them outside in the winter.

The purple balance beam photo is pure art. I love it. no doubt your new 50. ??? :)

I also love the way Theo is holding Rubin's little fist tight to that pole on the "hanging out" photo. Such a good big brother.
I would say that you were gutsy to put your baby up like that, but having witnessed Rubin's stability (beyond a usual one year old) i understand how you can set him up there and take a picture. :)

Love the post and the pics. Watching Flickr like a hawk for more 50 shots.

LOOOOOOVE the balance beam shot. Absolutely radical.
We're big fans of giant diggers, trucks, and construction-type vehicles around here too! Olive is NOT a girly-girl, thank goodness!
And I totally hear ya on dreading the onslaught of winter ugliness. Booo

I also LOVE the balance shot...so cool! I also LOVE the one of the 3 of them on those "things" (swings? spinners? not sure.). FUN DAYS! Enjoy.

Watch out Emily, we'll be up there before you know it! Before X joined us we used to go up to the Madison area many times during the year just to get away. We have yet to bring X there. I'm sure he would love to meet your boys...maybe during one of the winter days when we are cooped up!
