A Family Squish First

That's right, folks!

Our first giveaway...

In honor of Becca and Open Books (see below) and the fact that we've had over 20,500 visits to our blog, I've decided to host a literary giveaway, Christine~style. (I said I was stealing it, didn't I?!)

Anyway, if you are unfamiliar with how to play...

Just leave a comment below to be entered in our drawing, and the boys (or at least one of them) and I will pick a name on Sunday evening.

(Warning: This is the part of Christine's giveaway that I really, really loved, and so I am copying it (nearly) verbatim...)

To make things a little more fun [for me more than anyone else, probably] leave a question for me [or one of the boys] in your comment and we will answer them throughout next week. Your question can by Theo-related, Emmett-related, Rubin-related, adoption-related, or life-related in general. I'm looking forward to having all sorts of new topics to blog on!!!

Exactly which books, you might wonder, are up for grabs??

Well, I picked up two this weekend at Open Books. One for the Mama:

and one for the little one:

Remember, both of these books have been gently used and were up for resale at Open Books, where proceeds are used to fight illiteracy in Chicago.

Ask away, people. And, good luck!

Oh - great idea. It's so trendy to do a giveaway these days. I need to do one too, I guess!

OK - there are so many things I could ask a mama of 3 boys, but I guess I'll narrow it down to this: How do you manage to find time to be an awesome mama AND also find time to hang out with girlfriends and be a runner?? (No sleep required?)

I love that you are stealing this!! It's so. much. fun.

And, I think I may have found the Christmas donation I'll do in my mom's name! (We're "less gifts, more giving" this year.)

So - my question...

I feel like your boys have some "naughty" in them. What's the most deliciously naughty thing they've done? (Either as a team or solo) If there are too many to choose from, you can just give me the most recent! ;-)

PS - I'm not looking for anything that will get you in *trouble* just some entertainment value.

I'm in!

What was hardest for you...Going from one child to two, or two to three? And why?

;)

Oooh. I like *all* the questions so far. And I'm totally stealing this idea sometime too. I love the probing ;)
My question is... is three your limit, or will there be more little ones? Feel free to say, "mind your own business!" if you want. But if you do that, then you have to answer why you keep trying to steal Christine!

I love giveaways! And guess what? You just got an award from me! See my blog for details! My question for you is, what is your best and worst moment as a mom so far?

Love your blog... I seem to be coming out of lurkdom on blogs recently with these contests (commented on Christine's donation post as well). But your description of Open Books literally made me cry with joy at their efforts, so I'm inspired to participate. It would be my absolute dream in life to start a similar organization.

Anyhow - as for a question - from the mom of 1 bio son (age 5) and soon-to-be mom of a little guy from Korea (hoping to get a TC in the next month or so)... any suggestions for helping big brother handle the transition?

Thanks!

I'm excited for this giveaway! My question has to do with your siblings. I've gathered from old posts that you have a large family and some siblings that are adopted. Can you tell us more about that?

I'm also stealing this question asking for my next giveaway too.

Great giveaway idea! I love books. :) My question is...what do you think is the hardest part about being a mom?

Great idea! My uestion is: What is the maximum amount of money you would pay for a tummy tuck or boob job? (If you still are interested...)

emily said...

great questions, all around! i can't wait for more...

(erin, are you offering to pay for my cosmetic surgery?!?!)

Lora Maria said...

This is a fun idea. And it will be to hear all of your answers to these questions! :)

I have two questions for you: what is one thing you wish you had time for in your day or week? And then what one thing could you reasonably cut out to replace with it?

jessica said...

i want in on the contest (of course), but i'm having a hard time with the question.... i either know too many of the answers, or i'm afraid to ask. i like erin's; can my question be, do you think they'd give us a deal on 2 for 1?? how about a generic question... if you could trade places with anyone you know for a day, who would it be and why? oh, and i'd like to hear more about your bizarre immediate family as well :)

Casey said...

I think Erin is offering to perform the surgery, for the right price.

I like the question about whether there will be a fourth someday.

PICK ONE:

What worries do you have about being a mom or for your boys? OR
What is something you are working to improve on?

i love all the giveaways too! i am preparing my own, too! i love shamelessly stealing ideas from my bloggy friends!

i'll go easy on you - where does the red hair come from? we have a few red heads in my family. i just always think it's fun to hear where it comes from!

Holy Cow! You're like a legit blogger with giveaways and all?!?! I love it!

Ok - my question will reveal my relative newness to your blog...I'd love to hear more about your extended family. One of 7 children?! WOW..and HOW?! What was that like and do you plan to follow suit? If you do...that's where are similarities stop. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I love your promotion savvy-ness! :)

My question is: What is one thing you wish you would have done before having kids that you didn't?

I'm just wondering if we should go to Costa Rica for a week or two...Last Christmas in Costa Rica they were saying that American women were coming there for a "spa week" which included new boobs, butts, etc! It's much cheaper, and a hotel/spa recovery is included in the price. We could go together! It's never too early to start planning...Now I just need to find a place that can make me tall!

I have another question: Now that you have a different perspective on parenting, what are some things you've gained a new respect for in terms of YOUR mother?

Krista said...

I LOVE giveaways! ANd I LOVE books!
My question... How have you found parenting to differ (if at all) from Emmett and Theo to Rubin.
And... what is your FAVORITE all time book?

Lora Maria said...

this is like starting your own Oprah episode, starring Emily!!! :) Can't wait for the show.

since posting twice is obviously kosher, i have more questions.

the first being: are you going to answer all of these questions in one post, multiple posts, or just the questions from the two you draw as winners?

next: do we get entered into the drawing once and for all after commenting with a question, or once for each comment, question, breast augmentation referral? :)

last: will you not be posting until SUNDAY when you announce the winners? and if so, can you make the next giveaway time frame a little shorter so we aren't being deprived of your blog in the midst?

I do love this whole thing. it's so fun! :)

Well, since sleep (and the lack of it) is my favorite topic these days, I'd like to know if you have any helpful tips for getting Daniel to sleep through the night.

What will your action/response be when the first boy gets his first sports cup and turns to one of the other brothers with legs spread and says "kick me"...

Little Rubin--how do you keep up with your two older brothers? I think you have the biggest job in your entire family! You're one busy boy.
