Meet Sky, the parakeet who lives in Theo's classroom.

His mere presence helped Rubin to master, with lots of practice, his developing word for bird- bur-bee.
If you've been with us for a while, you might already know that we are a bit of a bird-watching family. (Kris, I refuse to show my husband the photo of you banding the Hooded Warbler, for fear that he might fall in love!)
For a little more follow up, you might want to read this. And, keep yourself tuned in after the holidays, as my husband begins gathering discarded Christmas trees from our neighbors' curbs to build bird shelter in our backyard... Never embarrassing.
Anyway, up until this point, we've spent a lot of time loving ourselves some birds... of the outdoor variety. But I would be lying if I (not a huge fan of indoor pets) said that I didn't enjoy Sky. I've enjoyed her singing and swinging and flapping for the past few days.
The boys clearly have, too.
Unfortunately, I think I might be allergic to our fine feathered friend.

Oh Sky is adorable, she reminds me of a little blue parakeet I had as a child. His name was Petey. That's right, Pete the parakeet. His singing was lovely.
So, your bird watching set up is sweet! I'm totally jealous. And I HAVE to meet Theo. Hello?! Bird humor, I love it! Great blue heron in the bird bath - so funny.
P.S. I'll keep my other bird banding photos hidden ;)
Actually, you do have a lot of birds in the house already-just not the kind that move or have real feathers. I seem to remember a lot of bird decor in your home, which is why I thought Rubin was saying "bird" in the first place. The decor birds might be better for your allergies!

sadly, we no longer have any bird feeders - the squirrels beat us at our bird feeding. we tried everything - and i mean everything!
so i too am jealous of your bird paradise!
Oh, how cute is he?! (I mean the bird) Uhhh... why no photos of Emmett with the bird?!
How fun to have a bird in the house! And I *LOVE* that your DH is a xmas tree scavenger!!!
i just chuckle at the thought of dave collecting the xmas trees for your bird sanctuary. it makes me wish, even more, that i could enjoy these things as your neighbour again. lovely pics.

What a beautiful bird!!
when i was in kindergarten, all we had as a classroom pet was "the invisible bear." we each got to bring him home with us one weekend, too, but he was not NEARLY as exciting as a bird. lucky theo!
