GNO and GUR

I kind of feel like this weekend was "Mothers' Day" weekend, part two...

I had a lot of "me" time, a lot of time with my girls... and it was so much fun.
I haven't been out of the house on my own, just for the sake of having some fun, since Rubin came home six weeks ago.

While on one hand if felt so good...
I felt terribly guilty, too.

Oh, motherhood.

Friday night was a fantastic girls' night out. Dinner, drink-y drinks, good company. I couldn't have asked for more.

And on Saturday, unexpectedly, I completed the Great Urban Race with my girlfriend/running partner/co-worker Krista, my sister Jessica and our good friend Lorie.  The GUR can be likened to the Amazing Race, but on a much smaller, more local scale. Each team of 2 is given 12 clues and 5 hours to complete the scavenger hunt, which led us on a 7.5 mile course. We had a blast!
I don't have all of our day's results yet... hopefully tomorrow. However, I DO know that, finishing in 6th place, Team Nobody's Angel qualified to compete at the National GUR in New Orleans in November!!
Krista and I were slowed down a bit by a.) a deep hole and b.) Krista's heat exhaustion.  From what I can tell, we were a few minutes away from finishing in the top 25, which would have won us a bid in New Orleans, as well. I'll write more about that when I know more. For now, all I can say is, "GUR 2010, here I come!"
I think this "adventure" racing might be my new vice...

(Teams Nobody's Angel and BBRC, post race.)

(Jessica and Lorie, VICTORIOUS!!!!)

(Krista and I post race. Don't let the smiles fool you!)

And, on Sunday, we did truly celebrate my wonderful husband.  Fantastic weather, a cookout, family all around us. Just the way he likes it.

(this just in... we finished 29th in the GUR out of 190 teams, just ONE MINUTE behind the team in 25th place!!! (SO CLOSE!) 66 teams didn't even finish... it was a hot day. Check out the link!!  http://www.greaturbanrace.com/register09_madison.php

Looks like a blast!

Ok--isn't this the truth--word verification that I get is "slowie". I know they are random, but that is too funny!
