Round one

I dropped off the first of many (I'm assuming) stacks of paperwork at Adoption Advocates this morning... our official application packet with a number of signed releases so that J.D. can start our "background checks" and we can begin to schedule our home study visits (if we pass the background check...)
We also received our pre-application packet from Americans for International Aid and Adoption in Michigan today. I've been checking the mail for it all week, and I even accused Dave of accidentally recycling it. (Can you say, "Anxious?")
I'm having a blast (seriously!) filling out all of the forms. I feel like I'm doing something, I feel like we're making progress.
It seems as though we've been struck, suddenly and quite hard, with round one of the fall/winter stomach flu that plagues our home annually. Dave dropped the boys off at Jessica's house this afternoon and no sooner was he out of the driveway than Jessica was calling me to report that Emmett had thrown up on her. Twice. (What a good Aunt she is.)
Luckily, Dave was able to go in a little late, and I was able to come home a bit early, without having to cancel any classes. We spent the rest of the day snuggling, napping, throwing up a few times more...
Once again, Theo proved himself the perfect big brother. He made a bed of pillows and blankies on the living room floor so that he could "hold Emmett and snuggle." He helped me gently bathe his baby brother, and he gave his forehead kisses as we rocked him to sleep. Unfortunately, as I was putting him to bed just minutes ago, he reported that his tummy was starting to hurt. It looks like we could be in for a looooong night.

Better get some sleep while I can.

Sounds like they made a nice "nest" to snuggle in. I hope everyone is feeling better today. Paper pregnancies are fun aren't they?
