Next step:

Dave and I have our first interview of the home study process for our adoption on Tuesday morning. We will have four (or five) meetings of this sort with our social worker, the last of which will be at our house, so that J.D. can meet our boys in person and visit with us in our home.

I'm excited to start these interviews. Dave (the touchy/feely communicator that he is not...) is, of course, a little bit nervous/apprehensive. The last couple of days he's been asking me questions about which questions I think J.D. is going to ask us next week. He's already making jokes (as he typically does when he's nervous) about some of his responses. I can't help but have flashbacks to the afternoon that we were checking into the hospital, the day before Theo's birth. The triage nurse directed all of her questions towards my husband, as my contractions were growing in intensity. At one point, she asked Dave if we had any "special religious requests" and my husband asked her, with a straight face, for "two chickens and a hairless monkey."

Sigh.

Wish me luck.

Maybe if the adoption SW asks dave how he "feels" about something, he'll say, "I feel hungry."

Oh my--he and Ted do sound like a pair! Remind me to tell you some of the stuff he said to our doctor when she was giving Rauan a physical! JD is an awesome social worker and she'll make you feel totally comfortable.Easier said then done--but don't get too stressed.
