rubin & emmett @ aldo

this happened quite some time ago.

i was just looking through a few photos from the fall,
and stumbled across these...

dave, emmett, rubin, & i spent a few hours one weekday morning at our local nature center.
we attended a seminar called hibernation station...

we wondered about animals and how they prepare for the winter months.
how they keep themselves warm.

we went on a scavenger hunt,
searching for signs that animals had been there...
tracks and food and (emmett's favorite) poop.

(the provided clipboards were a hot commodity.)

we looked for animals themselves.

(oh, there they are!)

we made bird feeders.
and ended with a game, gathering for the winter.

i'd almost forgotten how much fun we had
and i'm looking forward to trying another workshop come spring.

(hurry up and come, spring!)

These are great! We won a one-year Aldo membership, but haven't made it over there yet. You've inspired me to look at their schedule. Alex's favorite would have been the poop section too.

(if this is a duplicate post, I'm sorry. i got overzealous in my window-closing and I'm not sure if my comment went through) Anyway...
That looks AWESOME! What a fun morning! And duh, clipboards are the best!!!
What happened to little Rub's cheek? :(

love the clipboards! it's the little things that make them feel important, huh? it looks like a really great program and i chuckled at the poop comment. the dog's poop always gets pointed out around our backyard. sigh.

What a great outing!! Jason and I visited there once before X came home just because it sounded so awesome. It was and looks like they have wonderful programs for the whole family. I agree with the others - the boys are so cute with those clipboards.

What happened to Rubin's face? Does Emmett have anything to do with it?

What a great activity for the little ones...and parents too. The kids look so adorable (and quite scholarly) with their clipboards. Funny.
